The Royal Ocean Racing Club’s 2011 offshore race season came to a fantastic climax on Saturday 19th November with their Annual awards and trophies being presented at the Banqueting Hall, London.
Windward Sailing’s Flag ship ‘Venomous’ was the winner of the prestigious Europeans trophy, Top prize in the big boat Class Zero .
Cowes based yacht charter company, Windward Sailing, who not only organise yacht charters but also specialise in offering individual crewing opportunities on state of the art race yachts, put their championship winning campaign in to action late in 2010 by participating the ARC race from Gran Canaria across the Atlantic to St Lucia in the Caribbean, ensuring that Venomous was raring to go for the first RORC offshore of the year the increasingly popular Caribbean 600, which is a tough 600 mile race around seven islands of the Caribbean.
Once Venomous was back in the UK she then embarked on her UK races including the prestigious Fastnet Race together with several other offshore races culminated in her victory. Windward Sailing was proud to be represented on the awards night by over 30 crew, who have sailed and raced on Venomous this year. In true victorious style Derek and Sandra Saunders, owners of Windward Sailing and Venomous filled the trophy with Champagne and were very pleased to share with all their crew who helped make this victory happen. They are eagerly awaiting the next season to begin the defence.
Thank you to all that came to make the evening so special.
