So you want some serious off-shore sailing and a mile builder? This is it.
Departing from Cowes: October 14th
Arriving in Oporto, Portugal: October 23rd
This is a genuine challenge and you will derive a great sense of achievement crossing the most infamous bay on this side of the Atlantic. Bank some new skills, brush up on old ones and log at least 700 miles.
We aim for Oporto as our destination on this as it is one of the most beautiful old cities in Portugal on the River Druro and rarely visited by yachtsas well as having the best Tappas bars we have come across to celebrate our safe arrival!.
We plan our route predominantly guided by the weather, but with oppotrtunity to call in other ports on our way South.Coruna or Bayona both have great interest.
Expect to see an abundance of nature in this region with frequent visits from dolphins and whales.
Depending on the weather and based on our experience, you should be prepared for trying out storm sailing tactics, although we have had some of our best sailing on our routes going South at this time of year.
Essentially this is part of a delivery trip South, and you will be part of a watch system and fully involved as crew and be built into a team in a friendly and caring environment.
